Asian Longhorned Beetle has been found in southern Ohio.  It arrived from China when it hitched a ride on some wood crates. International commerce could bring it to Columbus in the future. It likes to feed on maples, but will attack all species of hardwoods.
Should we be worried?????   This beetle is a much slower mover than the Emerald Ash Borrer and it takes 5-8 years for it to kill a tree.
The beetle has been found in Chicago and New Jersey in the past and the local and federal government agencies were successful in eradicating it.
Entomologists do not believe this pest will be something that can not be controlled should it ever enter the Central Ohio area.  For more information on this beetle and the Emerald Ash Borrer go to http://www.ashalert.osu.edu/

Our next project involves the 62 new trees... Now that the trees have setteled we will begin straightening the ones that have moved and removing excess soil.  The areas around the trees will be leveled and seeded.
We cut 39 infected ash trees this winter...  On to the next projects!!!!!!!!
